Through our long-term focus on entrepreneur-led ventures, we have accumulated hard to rival experience from early-stage venture development. As a team, we have assisted hundreds of startups, and learned a few important lessons along the road.

If you do something long enough, you end up making friends. Having founded, developed, and financed ventures since the 1980s, we have built up a wide network of potential co-investors, co-developers and clients that we can introduce.
Equity is king
"Cash is king", or so the saying goes. Unfortunately, cash is frequently a limited resource in early-stage venture development. For this reason, we only offer our expertise and experience in return for something more abundant: equity.
Bye-Bye Bullshit
Through equity, we ensure win-win or lose-lose outcomes. Honesty and transparency become rational, and everyone is immensely incentivised to focus less on how great we all are, and more on how to solve challenges.
Early-stages are quite local, and it's easier to maximise impact when you are able to collaborate both through digital tools and face-to-face. As such, we often help develop ventures in the Nordics, from our Stockholm office, or in the DACH region, through our Geneva office. However, we do make exceptions.
You can think of Katalysen Ventures as your bridge between friends-and-family and your Series A. Many investors would consider this to be "early-early stage".
This depends on the particular needs on the venture. You can compare early-stages to a car driving on a curvy, slippery road in the middle of the woods, trying to make its way to the more predictable highway. We recognise that the car needs fuel to progress towards its goal, but we also believe that its chances of arriving safely are much higher with a skilled map-reader in the front-seat. We are that map-reader in early-stages, investing our experience, expertise, and network to get you to the highway. The particulars of the map depends on the venture's road ahead and needs. We also help to re-fuel along the way, alone or alongside our network of co-investors.
In order of importance: we have a lot of experience working with entrepreneur-led ventures, typically in early-stages, and typically operating B2B business models. Tech, software or software+hardware based, is most of the time part of the equation. We make exceptions, when we come across exceptional people and ideas!
